SLADE, Joan - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, December 31, 2009, Joan Slade of Western Bay, age 84 years. Predeceased by infant daughter: Ella; parents: Joshua and Sarah Ryan; brothers: Jack, Ivan, David and Clyde. Leaving to mourn, husband: Jethro; one daughter: Ella McCann, St. John's; son-in-law: Edgar McCann, Carbonear; two sons: Percy (Karen), St. John's and Johnny, Western Bay; five grandchildren: Brian, Curtis, Patrick, Sarah (Robbie) and Joshua; two great-grandchildren: Jayden and Ethan; brother: Richard (Shirley) Ryan, St. John's; sister-in-law: Ruby Legge, Twillingate; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay. Funeral service to take place on Monday, January 4 at 2:00 p.m. from McDowell United Church, Western Bay. Interment in the United Cemetery, Western Bay North. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Joan Slade Memorial Fund c/o Noel's Funeral Home, 106 Water St., Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1A9.
