Dear Wal and family; Little did I know that when I visited Daph a couple of weeks ago when I was home that it would be the last time I would see her this side of heaven. I know the path you tread today is very difficult but you are not alone. You are in our prayers. God is good. He will give you the strength you need. I would like to be there at this time but can't. Daph was a beautiful lady in every way. My heart if full as I write these words. With deepest sympathy. Rosalie, Suzanne and Jennifer

Wally, We were very shocked when we were advised by Cal of the death of your wife. We pray that you and your family will be comforted by the memories of the many pleasant times you and Daphne spent together. Also the support of your many friends will hopefully boost your spirits during this time of grief. This will not lessen your grief but will hopefully put it in a different context. She is no longer suffering but has arrived at a far better place. Paul & Ruby Moncton, NB

What else can you say about a woman who was beautiful, witty, humble, proud and full of values? Daph was all this and more. She took her relationships seriously and was proud of her whole family which made her a wonderful wife, Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, step-daughter and friend. Wal – Do you remember when I would come over for Sunday morning visits---those were the days. Daph would make me laugh so hard, I would cry. I’d come home and try and tell Gwen, but it just wasn’t the same. I remember how you would tease her and hang the seal flippers out over the edge of the pot – now that was funny. You were a good husband and she’s left you with many fond memories I’m sure. Deb, Shelley, Cynt, Lisa, and Wally---Your Mother left you a wonderful legacy---not of material value, but one that is priceless---Daph could teach the whole world a lesson on unconditional love… a love that’s deep and meaningful. She had a fine bunch of daughters and one handsome son. You all made her proud… • Deb - she admired humbleness, your endurance and how hard you worked; • Shelley – she was proud of your career achievements; • Cynt – she loved the artist in you and admired your maternal wisdom and strength; • Lisa - she always wanted a ‘nurse’ and you made that dream come true for her; and • Wally – you were her baby boy who turned into a big strapping man like your Dad ; you were her University graduate Daph was selfless…I recall our many trips together. One trip in particular was the year ‘the girls’ went to California. It was May month, Shelley was living in Prince George at the time and made arrangements to surprise her Mother for Mother’s Day…so she met us at Los Angeles airport. It was Daph’s first trip to California so there was lots to see---many sites she hadn’t seen in her lifetime---but Daph wasn’t interested in the sites --- she never kept her eyes off her daughter. Another year, Deb came to California with us. It was Deb’s first time visiting the area. Again, Daph was only interested in seeing the sites through Deb’s eyes. Daph had one very close companion – one she was never without and one she didn’t take kindly to sharing with others… it was her purse. Always tucked securely under her arm and very near her bedside. Nobody ever got to hold onto it for her. She made sure she could multi-task so that one arm was always reserved for her purse. About a year ago, God gave Daph a break… he relieved her from every day routine and life’s stresses. Through it all though, she never lost her wit and humour. Most importantly, she had a family who cared for her, loved her, nursed her, and kept her ‘done up to the nines’, as we say. God bless you all for everything you’ve done for our Aunt and friend. May God’s speed be with you all. Love Wayne and Gwen, Bobby and Katie Clarke Red Deer, Alberta

Great Aunt Daph, You will always be a beauty queen in my memory books. From your perfect hair, to your lipstick and your flawless skin! I will forever use Vaseline as a moisturizer in your honour. :) What a beautiful woman, inside & out. Your funny stories and witty comebacks are what make you a truly memorable soul. To Wal, your children & grandchildren: It will be the little things that you will remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter. And although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things that help to push away the pain and bring the smiles back again. Love & miss you with all my heart Daph, Krista

“When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.” Aunt Daph, You will always be a treasured memory in my heart. I will never forget our “mother, daughter & cousin’s - Los Angeles/Las Vegas adventure”. Oh the many elevator rides we had together! We all had so much fun and made wonderful memories – even the not so happy memories I’ll treasure – like when we had a little mishap on our way home from that vacation…(Remember the broken baggage?!) Your beauty, charm, and sense of humour are unforgettable. Gone yet not forgotten, although we are apart, your spirit lives within me, forever in my heart. I Love You like my Mother Daph, Forever & Always, Jan xo
