Dear Janet, Greg, Dale, Paul, Grant and Stephen, My thoughts are with you as you make your way through your father's passing this week and the days to come. Uncle Walter was a frequent visitor to my parents' home in Ontario or wherever we were at the time and I have many memories of him and all of you. One time in Riverhead he took us in his school bus and we sat in the very back, laughing our heads off at every bump on the road into your place to turn the bus around. He took us fishing one time - someone fell in and scared all the fish away. I'm pretty sure it was me. Another time Uncle Walter asked Mom if she could repair his favourite grey wool sweater as the elbows were out. She took it, shopped for days to find the right grey wool, checked her stitch sizes, pulled out the old sleeves and knit new sleeves, and knit, and knit. Kept phoning him to check the sleeve length. And knit. To me those sleeves looked like pants. Finally he came over to try it on. Fit to a T. But she'd taken the wrong sweater. He loved it anyway. Thinking of you all over the miles and the years. Love, cousin Yvonne, Francois and Jean-Luc (Ottawa)
