PIKE, Capt. Douglas N. - Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness with his family and friends by his side at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, October 18, 2014, Capt. Douglas N. Pike of Harbour Grace, age 85 years. Predeceased by parents: George and Violet Pike; son: Wayne; infant: son and infant daughter: Louise; daughters-in-law: Madonna Pike and Susan Pike; brothers: Gerald, Art (Susie), David and Roy and sister: Mary (Duncan) Hunt. Leaving to mourn, Una Pike; two daughters: May (Nathan) Crane, Upper Island Cove and Beverley (Douglas, deceased) Smith, Spaniard's Bay; three sons: Gary (Betty) Pike, Carbonear, Forrest Pike, Harbour Grace and Todd (Wanda) Pike, Brampton, ON; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren: three brothers: Randell (Mary) Pike and Lorne Pike, both of Harbour Grace and George Pike, St. John's; three sisters: Violet (Bill) Sheppard, Harbour Grace South, Joyce Stephens and Ruth McCarthy, both of Harbour Grace; sister-in-law: Marie Pike, Harbour Grace; a dear friend of Douglas, Helen Nicholas (David Pike, deceased), Harbour Grace; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace with visitation hours on Monday, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m.from Noel's Memorial Chapel, Harbour Grace. Interment in the United Cemetery, Harbour Grace. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the TCP Health Foundation.
