It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Tom Sullivan on July 21, 2024.
Predeceased by beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara (nee Oates); infant son and daughter; parents: Wilfred and Gertrude Sullivan; parents-in-law: Andrew and Blanche Oates: sister: Patricia Connors; sister-in-law: Gwen Oates; brother-in-law: John Davenport.
Dedicated father of Andrea, Shane, and Heather (Chris) Gauthier; Grandad to Harper, Brock, and Kolton; brother of Bruce (Annemarie) Sullivan, Sheila Sullivan, Helen Sullivan, Dolores (Fred) Perry, Jean Davenport, Wilf Sullivan, and Nikki (John) Christian; brother-in-law to Carl Oates.
Born and raised in Placentia, Tom graduated from Memorial University's school of Pharmacy and later the school of Medicine. He practiced family medicine for 41 years in Carbonear and Heart's Content, where he and Barb made weekly house calls until his retirement.
Tom was an avid reader and seeker of knowledge, particularly in the areas of nutrition and fitness. He was an ardent runner, having completed both the New York City and Niagara Falls International Marathons. He also enjoyed martial arts, biking, and swimming. He and Barb delighted in travelling abroad and taking day trips across the island sampling new restaurants.
We are profoundly indebted to Helen and Sheila for their unwavering support and care over the last 2 years.
Visitation at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Friday, September 20 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Funeral service to follow at Noel's Memorial Chapel, Water Street, Carbonear.
Interment in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Carbonear.
Reception to follow at the Luxe, 170 Water Street, Carbonear.
