Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, February 26, 2024, John Ernest Butt of Carbonear, age 78 years. Predeceased by parents: John and Minnie; sisters: Shirley Griffin and Karen; infant brother: Harold; brothers-in-law: Maurice Curran, Don Sheppard, John Carpenter, and Jim Peddle. Leaving to mourn, two daughters: Elizabeth Andrews and Brenda (Jim) Shea; two sons: John (Trudy) and Justin (Rachel); six grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Jared, Alex, Andrew, Joshua, and Brooklynn; four brothers: Graham (Shirley), Les (Diane), Cyril (Sherry), and Gary (Carol); four sisters: Annie Curran, Marion Sheppard, Myrtle Carpenter, and Gail Butt; special friend: Anne Reardon and her children Samantha and Benjamin; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Visitation at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Thursday, February 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, March 1 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Friday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel’s Memorial Chapel, Carbonear. Interment will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in John’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
