Passed peacefully away after a lengthy battle with cancer at Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, November 6, 2023, Phyllis Sutton of Victoria, age 77 years. Predeceased by her parents: Gordon and Lillian Janes; sister: Dorris McCormick. Leaving to mourn, husband: Henry; two daughters: Bernice (Scott) Slade, Salmon Cove, and Judy (Terry) Galway, Harbour Grace; son: Jamie (Amanda), Victoria; five grandchildren: Megan (Brad), Matthew (Alisha), Erica, Dylan, and Quin; two sisters: Gloria (Albert - deceased) Ledrew, Clarke’s Beach, and Christine Janes, Shearstown; sister-in-law: Marjorie (Baxter) Penney, Western Bay; brothers-in-law: Hans (Donna) Sutton, Victoria, and John McCormick, Blaketown; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Special thank you to Dr. Howse and the 6th floor nursing staff of Carbonear General Hospital and special friend and neighbour, Irene Stephenson. Visitation at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Tuesday, November 7 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Church, Victoria. Interment in the United Church Cemetery, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the United Church Cemetery, Victoria.
