Obituary of Ted Butt

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Winston “Ted” Butt of Freshwater, Carbonear, born Sept 10th, 1956 to the late Benjamin and Nellie Butt. He passed away peacefully at Carbonear General Hospital after a brave and valiant battle with cancer. Predeceased by sisters: Eliza, Pearl, and Linda; sisters-in-law: Elsie and Margaret; brothers-in-law: Gideon, Jack, and Derrick; nephews: Rodney and Darryl. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, the love of his life and his best friend: Elaine and cherished son: Joshua and his wife Melanie; special nieces and nephews: April (Kirk), Joey (Courtney), and Tiffany (Jason), whom he loved like his own children, and great nieces: Trinity and Teirrah; brothers: Benjamin (Mary), Joseph (Anne), Bud (Joanne), Kevin (Vicki), and Carly; sisters: Debbie and Marie (Ted); in-laws: Wilfred (Joan), Melvin (Carol), Jerry (Julie), Gary (Christine), Janet (Fred), Marilyn (Wylie), Cynthia, Joan (Randy), Ada, and Lilian; also sadly missed by niece: Jackie (James) Squibb and long-time friends: Merlin (Darlene) Greening, Jerry “Block” Pike, John and Darryl Parsons, John W. Parsons, Jake Parsons, and many more; special neighbors: Sheila (Harvey) Moores; beloved fur babies: Harley and Davidson. He was a hard worker, spending almost 25 years as a red-seal pipe insulator in Alberta. He had many hobbies, but dearly enjoyed his computers and his Harley Davidson. He was a dedicated member and treasurer of the Freshwater United Church, master mason lodge Carbonear 1043, and proud union brother of the local 110. He dedicated much of his time to the community of Freshwater. He was loving, caring, and selfless, we will miss your humor, kindness, and warm hugs and in his words “It hasn’t been boring”. Visitation at Noel’s Funeral Home, 106 Water Street, Carbonear on Tuesday, September 20 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, September 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Church, Freshwater, Carbonear. Interment in the United Church Cemetery, Freshwater, Carbonear.
