Passed peacefully away in the presence of loving family at Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, January 21, 2022, Gertrude Elizabeth ‘Gertie’ Connolly of Harbour Grace, age 87 years. A well-respected teacher for over 30 years. Predeceased by husband: Ronald; parents: John and Mary Callahan; two infant siblings: Nellie and Mike; six brothers: Leo, Pat, Bill, Frank, Ned, and John ‘Jack’; four sisters: Marie Byrne, Angela Roberts, Veronica Callahan, and Kathleen Coombs. Leaving to mourn, four sons: Edward (Patricia), Glen (Nanette), Derek (Sheri), and Jerome; four grandchildren: Caitlin, Sarah, Brennan, and Lauren; also a number of other relatives and friends. Following pandemic guidelines, there will be a private family visitation and funeral service on Monday, January 24 from Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Baccalieu Trail SPCA, P.O.
