I am so very sorry for your loss. Juinor was an amazing man, always had a smile on his face. He loved mustangs, i have had one now for about 3 years and everytime i would walk into the shop he would ask me how i was and how my mustang was. He loved to talk to me about cars and told me that he always wanted a mustang himself. Last year he told me "this summer i am going to have one and thats it" and he did! Breaks my heart that he wasn't able to use it as much as he would have wanted to. He came to my salon about 2 weeks ago for a hair cut. He talked about delaney and how wonderful christmas was going to be for her, he lite up so much just talking about her , i could see how much he loved her and that she was deffintly poppys little girl. He was so happy to have his hair cut because he said he was at the shop so much that he didnt have time to get it done in a while because customers come first.he was such a great business man. May god give you the strength to get through this very diffcult time. He is watching over each of you. God bless. xo

I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Junior's sudden passing. I remember when I was growing up I used to head down to Junior's shop after school everyday and seeing him behind the counter. It became my only memory of all the times I have been down there. Sometimes he would give me free candy or let me have something for free if I didn't have enough money to buy it. He was just that friendly and kind. We used to kick up a grand ol' chat. He will be missed

To the Loveys family, It is indeed with great sadness that we learned of Junior’s passing. We met Junior the first summer we spent at our summer place in Western Bay. We remember fondly dropping in to the store and having a chat with Junior over just about anything. When our grandson Adam visited with us, it was his great delight to go “up to Juniors” and Junior always made a point of chatting with him. His presence will be greatly missed by those whose life he touched. We hope the memories of the life you shared together will bring you comfort in the days ahead. May the peace of God sustain you and the support of family and friends console you. Know that you are on our minds and in our hearts, Donna and Brian Lockyer, London, Ontario

Jean, Lorie, Brian, and Delaney, I was so deeply saddened to hear of Junior’s sudden passing. He was such a wonderful man. He was a caring and loving family man, community man and friend. I know words cannot comfort you during this trying time but I would like to share one of my fond memories of him. I was 12 years old and very shy. I loved going to J and L convenience on Fridays with my mom to pick out a movie and a snack. It was summertime then so Junior always had the door propped open to let a breeze in. This one particular Friday I will never forget. Mom and I went to the store and were talking while getting out of the car. I wasn’t paying attention while walking into the store. It was windy and cool that evening so Junior shut the door early which was all glass. Again, not paying attention, I proceeded to walk straight into it. What a bang it made that everyone in the store looked out to see what happened and then went into laughing fits. I was so embarrassed that I told mom to go on in and I ran back to the car and hid my face. Junior came running out to the car to see how I was, told me to come back in and pick out a movie and a snack, his treat and gave me a hug. That small act of kindness stuck with me to this day and it goes to show just how considerate he was. You are in our thoughts and prayers, Love from Goose Bay, Monica and Henry Asivak

Jean, Lorie, Brian and Delaney,
I know this is a very upsetting time in your lives so I would like to share a few silly memories I have from this past summer when I worked with Junior. One day, I was working by myself and he was in his office. It was one of our slower days, so he said it was a good time for him to catch up on some paperwork and told me to count out some candy. I was taking out the chocolate sprinkled candy and they slipped right out of my hand and onto the floor - a full tub of candy went right across the floor. I did not know how to tell him I had just wasted every single candy and of course, this being my first job in the retail world, I was so scared of his reaction. All the way to his office I was thinking of different ways to tell him, but when I got there I blurted, half on a cry, "Junior, I kinda have a problem". He didn't even look up from his paper and said "What's that Frankie?" so I said "Well, see.... I kind of, may have wasted a full tub of candy on the floor." He looked up with a smirk on his face and said, "That's fine, just pick them up and throw them out." Before I knew it, the two of us were on our hands and knees cleaning up my huge mess. I expected him to be upset with me but he didn't even seem to care, which made things so much easier for me. Another time I can remember was one Saturday night, which was pay day at the shop. It was about 10:30 and he came out with mine and Judy's cheques. When I looked at my envelope, it said Frankie King so I looked at Judy and jokingly said "Since when was I a King?" I thought Judy would pee in her pants laughing and when Junior came out, the two of us were laughing hysterically so he asked what was so funny. Since neither of us could speak from laughing so hard, Judy handed him the envelope and he instantly grinned. I can still picture the three of us standing around the counter laughing. The last one I will share shows just how sweet of a man Junior was. Judy was working one night by herself and I had just baked cupcakes at home so I decided it would be nice to bring her out a treat. When I got out of the car Junior was on the parking lot and I felt so bad because I didn't have a cupcake for him. I said "Junior if I had known you were going to be out here, I would have brought you out a cupcake!" He smiled, put his arm around me and said "Frankie, I don't need any of that, I'm sweet enough already!" and started to laugh. I could not agree with him more. These are just a few of the fond memories I will cherish forever.
Delaney, along with these memories I would like for you to know that anytime Poppy was having a bad day at his shop, I would ask him how you were. His eyes would light up and he would cheer up right away. He was so proud of you and I know he always will be. You were the sparkle in his eye.
Love Frankie King (Slade)

Hi Jean and Lori, there was one time around Christmas when I was baking raisin bread. Of course my hands were full of dough and ran out of flour. There wasn't anyone around to get the flour for me at the shop. So I called the shop and asked Junior if he had flour, of course he said yes. So, I asked him if he wouldn't mind bringing it down to the house for me. Two minutes later he was knocking on the door with a smile & bag of flour. God love him. I gave him a loaf for xmas & he loved it. There were also many times during the winter when he was plowing around the shop, Junior would take the time to come down the driveway and plow me out. Bless his heart. He will be missed by our family. Keep the memories close to your heart......take care and God Bless.

So many fond memories of times our times our families spent together. He was a beautiful person and we remember him with warm hearts and the same jovial spirit he shared with others. We are thinking of you. Lots of love. All Is Well Death is nothing at all, I have only slipped into the next room I am I and you are you Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, Speak to me in the easy way which you always used Put no difference in your tone, Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household world that it always was, Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It it the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, Just around the corner. All is well. Henry Scott Holland

Jean , Lorie & Family I have been searching for the right words , but have realized they don’t exist. Nothing can describe the sense of loss that we all feel . Anyone who was fortunate enough to meet Junior has met a great friend. Always a smile, a friendly chat. A man with such pride in his family & his business. I remember seeing his eyes light up as he spoke of Delaney and a smile that showed his love for his family. I also saw a gleam as we discussed business. A very dedicated business man , a rarity in today’s world. He genuinely cared about every individual who came through his door, no matter the age. Now, where once a wonderful man stood , there is a great void. He will be greatly missed by the people of the North Shore. In the most difficult days that lay ahead , may you find comfort in the way your dear Junior Touched the hearts of so many. While I was filling up, my two boys would scurry into the store and head right for the back, slowing briefly as they passed the fireworks cabinet to the left (to see if Junior replenished them) and then to the back where they would curiously peek in to the office and usually see Junior working on the books. Fueling my quad or my truck was more of an adventure rather than an isolated episode. As I walk in to pay I would normally peruse the store to see what new thing Junior decided to put on his store shelf. There is nothing he doesn't have. Not having Junior around is like having Christmas without Mummers. Junior was a special man whose generosity has touch thousands of Newfoundlanders and travellers from away. I could go on and as the stories and memories are endless. We will truely miss Junior but his memory will live on in all our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. We serve a God of mercy and compassion and our prayer is that He will sustain you and give you peace during this time. Blessings, Terry, Barbara, Jonathan & Jason Hunt Mount Pearl Adam's Cove (2nd Home in summer)
