Obituary of Norman Roy Lockyer

Please share a memory of Norman Roy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Norman Roy Lockyer at his home in Salmon Cove, after a short battle with cancer, on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. Predeceased by his parents: John and Emmie Lockyer; nephew Brian Joseph (B.J.) Lockyer; and parents-in-law: Frank and Muriel Wells. Leaving to mourn with many precious memories, his loving and devoted partner of 15 years, Andrea Wells; his adoring children, Roger (Kim), Carolyn (Paul Barry), Darren (Heather), Alison (Norm Campbell), Stephanie (Paul Butt), their mother Lillian Lockyer, and step-daughter Taylor Bartlett (Nick); his 11 precious grandchildren, Jaxon, Ryland, Kaelyn, Johanna, Dylan, Breanna, Connor, Emma, Frederick, Henry, and Clara; siblings, Neville (Marie), Brian (Donna), Carl (Rosalind), Beverley (Cliff Green), and Marilyn (Michael Wallace); sisters-in-law, Joanne (Rod Delaney) and Krista (Vincent Dawson); fur baby Cori; and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. At 74 years young, Norm’s life centered around his family and his work. As a proud educator for 37 years and an auto-repair mechanic for nearly 50 years he has enriched and touched the lives of so many. For all the accolades and accomplishments his teaching profession and avocation have given him through the years, Norm’s greatest legacy will perhaps be best remembered as a doting and supportive partner, father, and grandfather. He was a man of great patience and was always there for us 24/7. Whenever things would veer off course he would gently say, “This, too, shall pass”. While Norm may not have been ready to leave his family and friends, he understood his fate and would remind us that, “Man plans and God smiles”. Cremation has taken place and by Norm’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of life by his family will take place at a later date. Interment will take place Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Riverside United Cemetery, Salmon Cove for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
