Obituary of Gertrude Reiss

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Friday, February 21, 2020, Gertrude Reiss of Carbonear, age 77 years. A mighty faithful warrior who battled cancer with style, grace, and dignity for over thirteen years.
Predeceased by husband: Franz; parents: Iver and Gertrude Iverson; sister: Sonja (Siegfried) Hosel.
Leaving to mourn, one daughter: Helga (Ian) Reiss-Brummitt, New Brunswick; fur babies: Baghiera, Jack, Norby, and Suzy Blu; one sister: Lorraine (Roy) Janes, Carbonear; nephews: Jens (Elva) Hosel and Kurt Janes; niece: Marliese Whalen.
For over 50 years her greatest joy was to help students of all ages discover the universal language of music.
To share memories and her contributions to her family and students the family invite you to Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Tuesday, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Baccalieu Trail S.P.C.A., PO Box 273, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1B7 or to a charity of one’s choice.
