Aunt Marg was a very special person. She has left a void in many lives that will never ever be filled. It is hard to believe that she is gone to her place in heaven-heaven is a better place because of her presence. We are left with many memories-

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Mrs. Merrigan was a remarkable woman and we were fortunate enough to have known her. She welcomed us into her home with warm hospitality. Time spent with her was valuable and touching as she radiated kindness and compasion. We have happy memories. Her smile and love of life was contagious. We had fun at her birthday parties, especially Margaret, who loved Mrs. Merrigan like a grandmother and called her "my other nan". They connected in a special way. Mrs. Merrigan was good company for sure, with her jokes and stories. She was always entertaining and fun-loving. On Nov. 11 we spent the evening with her, had a "cup of tea" of course, and a delicious lunch with everything she was eager to offer and set out on the table. She showed us the newspaper article - with her story and the picture they printed. She treasured her family and friends. She was so thoughtful and kindhearted. We have a beautiful quilt on our bed she made as a gift for our 25th Wedding Anniversay. She would hug Margaret and ask her to come back again. Margaret loved to plan a trip to Carbonear because, she would say proudly, "Mrs. Merrigan's family are wonderful and so much fun". I believe the world needs more people like Margaret Merrigan. I know you will all miss her, but be glad to have had her. Her life, her personality, and her contribution to our world - all inspiring! We thank God for having her in our lives.

Angela(and Paul): Please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother. She was indeed the matriarch of the Merrigan family and deserves a lot of respect for raising such a large family, often under challenging and difficult circumstances. In my personal experiences, I found your mother to be a very pleasant, kind and respectful lady, who enjoyed a good conversation on any topic of interest. When I visited your home, she welcomed me in and treated me with genuine hospitality. I would be grateful, Angela, if you would pass along to all the boys and your sisters my personal sympathies and my hope that my message will serve to let you know that a simple act of courtesy can be remembered by some people for a long time.

An Irish Funeral Prayer Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Everything remains as it was. The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no sorrow in your tone. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

To the Merrigan family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother/grandmother. I am truely heartbroken I was not able to be there to say goodbye! As most of you know, I always considered her like a grandmother to me.She was around for every family event or wedding. Such a wonderful woman, always had a smile on her face. Even if she was making her way up chapel hill, all out of breath. She still had a smile. When I was home last year she gave me a beautiful cross she had ordered from the church. Yesterday we moved into a new apartment and that was one of the first things unpacked. I hang it in my kitchen as a constant reminder of how much of a wonderful woman she was. I am going to miss her as I'm sure all of you are too. You are all in my thoughts and prayers!
