PENNEY, John W. - Promoted to Glory at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, St. John's on Friday, June 29, 2012, John W. Penney of Mount Pearl; formerly of Victoria, age 89 years. Predeceased by first wife: Edna (June 1998); second wife: Jean (Jan. 2011); son: Howard (May 2012); parents: Silas and Florence; daughter-in-law: Linda Penney; sister-in-law: Lucy Penney. Leaving to mourn, two daughters: Joy Mutrey, Goose Bay and Ruth (Frank) Carter, Mount Pearl; six sons: Victor (Joan), Churchill Falls, Clarence (Carolyn), ON, James (Karla), New Harbour, John (Patsy), Goose Bay, Scott (Trudy), ON and Garry (Fern), Mount Pearl; daughter-in-law: Jean Penney, Summerford; twenty-eight grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Samuel Penney, Carbonear; one sister: Mary (Graham) Baldwin, Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, Mount Pearl on Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Monday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. from Park Avenue Pentecostal Church, Mount Pearl. Interment in Bethel Pentecostal Cemetery, Victoria. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NL. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Noel's Funeral Home, Carbonear.
