DOWNING, Vida I. - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, March 7, 2004, Vida I. Downing of Harbour Grace, age 87 years. Predeceased by husband: J. Stanley; daughters: Shirley and Rose; son: Grant; granddaughter: Joanne; sisters: Alice, Mary and Joyce; brothers: Israel and Gordon. Leaving to mourn, three daughters: Doris (Eugene) Abbott, Harbour Grace, Gwen (Wilfred) Mercer, Point Leamington and Edith (Roy) Dawe, Coley's Point; three sons: Lloyd (Ada), Kilbride, John (Joyce), Clarenville and Wayne (Gail), Harbour Grace; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law: John Lloyd Chipman, Spaniard's Bay; sister-in-law: Lillian Williams, Harbour Grace; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at NOEL'S FUNERAL HOME, HARVEY STREET, HARBOUR GRACE until 12:00 noon Wednesday, March 10. Funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. from Coughlan United Church and Cemetery, Harbour Grace. Flowers gratefully accepted or as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Coughlan United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of one's choice.
