mrs. Barrett....So sorry to hear of Mr. Barrett's passing. Didn't learn of it until half hour before the funeral. I was so hurt that I didn't get a chance to say my good-bye to him and express my condolances to you. He was a wonderful man and an excellent teacher. I have him to thank for the little french I know ! I know, only too well, how hard this has been for you. Look after yourself and know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Thinking of you. Judy.

We all loved Mr. Barrett as our high school teacher. I was most happy to participate in the celebration of his teaching career a few years back at Salmon Cove Lions Den. He had many successes as a teacher. He was a most respected teacher who never seem to get impatient with his students; firm but gentle. The parents of his students knew that he always worked for their best interest and he always had the support of parents. I also have fond memories of him a person who visited during Christmas with my parents and Jim and Julia Parsons. During the past few years I enjoyed meeting him at Woodrow's as he got his mail. I can only wish that I gain the respect which he enjoyed. This past year I taught school in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. I am arriving home on June 25 and therefore I cannot be there now. Diane and I appreciate all that Mr. Barrett did for us and wish to express our prayers for him and Mrs. Barrett.

I am very saddened by the passing of Mr. Barrett. He taught me English for a couple of years at Persalvic and was a huge influence in my pursuing an English degree at MUN. Mr. Barrett was a class act and truly one of those teachers that you never forget. His love for the subject of English and in particular Shakespeare was very attractive and I'm sure made better students out of many who had the priviledge of his instruction. I know one lesson that I learned from his example was "if something is worth doing; then it is worth doing well." While I am saddened with his passing I believe that Mr. Barrett is again united with his beloved Kevin. Strangely enough, as I write these few words I seem to be somehow more keenly aware to make sure that I am putting together decent sentences, using proper punctuation, and tenses, etc. I wonder why that is?
